Google won’t exactly say link building is the “most important” factor, but they’ve gone on record to tell us that it is [one of the most important three](https://www.searchenginewatch.com/2016/03/24/google-reveals-its-three-most-important-ranking-signals/). Here are four of our link building secrets that we’ve implemented in 2018: ## Guest blogging Guest blogging is essentially just free promotion. You write an article for a publication and receive valuable links in exchange for the work that you deliver. Do your best to get posted on high-quality and high profile sites with a higher domain authority. However, guest blogging for smaller sites with less authority will still build links over time. Look through their guest blogging process and figure out what fits your company best. ## Infographics for link bait Infographics are considered one of the most shared pieces of content on the internet. In fact, according to [HubSpot](https://blog.hubspot.com/marketing/visual-content-marketing-strategy), infographics are shared and liked three times more than any other form of content. But why do people love them so much? Visual content performs best. No one wants to read a 2,000 word blog post to find information that can be presented in the form of a graphic. When other content creators borrow your infographic for their blog, the link will always go back to your site. You can make your own infographic, or use sites like [Quick Sprout](https://www.quicksprout.com/) or [Canva](https://www.canva.com/). ## Participating in online forums Chances are you’ve Googled a question and stumbled upon a discussion forum to get some answers. Forums like [Quora](https://www.quora.com/) give people a platform to ask questions and get responses from a variety of people with different people. But have you ever been the one answering the questions? Answering questions on forums is a fantastic way to build links because people are actively looking for sources. Just be sure to provide a link back to your blog or website. ## Build relationships to get featured This one’s a bit similar to the guest blogging sub-category. But here’s the difference— instead of guest blogging and writing an entire article, you’d act as a source for a journalist. Getting featured in articles and blog posts about whatever topic you’re an expert in can be a sure fire way to getting your name out there and receiving some links in exchange for your expertise.
